Splatoon is a video game franchise created by Hisashi Nogami and developed by Nintendo. Debuting in 2015, its success allowed it to expand into comics and live concerts. The games are of the third-person shooter genre, taking place in a post-apocalyptic world populated by evolved marine life. Among these creatures are the Inklings, humanoid squids who can change between humanoid and cephalopod forms. They engage in a sport known as Turf Wars, in which two teams of four try to cover an area with their sides' ink, the winning side having covered the most.
