The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is an American animated film and the first based on the Nicktoon television series, SpongeBob SquarePants created by Stephen Hillenburg. The film was produced by Nickelodeon Movies and was theatrically released in November 2004.
The film follows Plankton's ultimate "Plan Z", which involves stealing King Neptune's crown, sending it to the dangerous, faraway realm of Shell City, and framing Mr. Krabs for it. SpongeBob and Patrick must retrieve the crown to save Mr. Krabs' life from Neptune's wrath and Bikini Bottom from Plankton's plan.
As part of his morning routine early on in the film, SpongeBob cleans out his body by swallowing a bar of soap and filling himself up with water.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is the third official SpongeBob SquarePants animated film produced by Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies. The film was initially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in the summer of 2020, but was delayed until March 2021 and instead released on the Paramount+ streaming service.
The film's premise follows SpongeBob and Patrick journeying to the lost city of Atlantic City to rescue SpongeBob's beloved pet snail, Gary from the clutches of the tyrannically vain King Poseidon. Along the way, various characters remember the first time they met one another long ago at the summer camp, Camp Coral in their youth; paving the way for the series' new spin-off TV show, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years.

In the film's first trailer showcasing SpongeBob at Camp Coral, he accidentally stumbles down a flight of stairs and into a puddle he immediately soaks up and squeezes back out.
Film
In the film proper, SpongeBob soaks up and squirts out soap bubbles to clean the Krusty Krab at the end of the workday.
Later on, SpongeBob and Patrick are briefly seen gorging themselves on fried food while partying in Atlantic City.
Finally, in Sandy's flashback of Camp Coral, SpongeBob falls off the camp bus nearly identically to how he did in the footage from the trailer; accidentally landing into a puddle of water that he immediately soaks up.

Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie is a hybrid live-action/animated film produced by Nickelodeon Movies as one of the first SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off films to instead focus on other characters in the series. The film was released in August 2024 on the Netflix streaming service.
In the film, Sandy must return home to her roots in Texas in order to stop the deranged human scientist Sue Nahmee from turning the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom into marketable pets.
During the film, Sandy suffers a poisonous rattlesnake bite, which cause her to become puffy and dizzy until Ma Cheeks cures it with an antidote.
Later, the inhabitants of Bikini Bottom become stuffed after gorging themselves on food pellets.

Plankton: The Movie is an animated film serving as the second SpongeBob SquarePants spin-off film, and the fifth official film for the franchise as a whole. Similar to its predecessor, the film was released on the Netflix streaming service in March 2025.
When Plankton's computer wife, Karen goes rogue with world domination plans of her own, Plankton has little choice but to enlist SpongeBob's help in putting a stop to it. All the while exploring Plankton and Karen's past and relationship along the way.
While visiting with the Gal Pals, SpongeBob becomes increasingly hyped after soaking up multiple cups of coffee at once.
Later on, Mrs. Puff inflates for a group attack by the Gal Pals against Karen's split personalities.
Then during the film's climax, SpongeBob depletes Karen's potato-fueled power supply by feeding all of the potatoes to Patrick.
