Burunga 1, also known as Burunga the 1st, is a Sci-Fi manga created by manga artist Osamu Tezuka. On a moonlit night, an old man calling himself "The Devil" arrives at a young Jiro's house carrying two trunks. Jiro is given one of the trunks and finds a powerful shapeshifting creature called Burunga locked inside. Jiro meets up with another boy named Katagiri and they decide to raise Burunga together. The old man then delivers the other trunk to Ganomos, a criminal serving time in prison. Ganomos' trunk contains the more ruthless Burungo, whom Ganomos uses to make his escape. Once the news of Burungo gets out, Jiro and Katagiri set off to unite the two creatures.
Devil's Slave (Volume 1, Chapter 3)
Ganomos commands Burungo to free him and his gang from prison upon releasing her. She assumes her snake form, climbs up into the main prison, and devours all the guards. In the aftermath, one of Ganomos' men wants nothing to do with Burungo, so Ganomos has her swallow the man as punishment. Once they are ready to leave, Burungo assumes her true form and completely digests her victims.
Burunga II (Volume 2, Chapter 8)
Jiro takes Burunga and Burungo to a zoo so they can live out the rest of their lives in peace. That night, the vultures laugh at Burunga when he wants the animals to stop snoring loudly, so he kills and eats them.
Later, after they flee the zoo, Burungo eats one of beatniks camping in the woods out of hunger, then devours the rest of them and their car when they see her.
