Tom and Jerry is an American animated series of short films created in 1940 by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbara. The original series is important for having won seven Academy Awards, tying it with Walt Disney's Silly Symphonies as the most-awarded theatrical animated series.
The series also won more Oscars than any other animated series.
