Yooka-Laylee is a British video game series developed by Playtonic Limited, a group of former Rare employees, that was first released in April 2017. The series follows the adventures of best friends Yooka and Laylee as they deal with the evil CEO Capital B. Currently, the series consists of the origianl game: Yooka-Laylee, the second game: Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, a graphic novel: Yooka-Laylee and the Kracklestone, and a remake of the original game: Yooka-Replaylee.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair

Impossible Lair expands on Donkey Kong Country formula with several modern additions like alternate level states and customizable abilities. One such ability is the Super Buddy Slam tonic, a power up for the buddy slam that allows Laylee to increase the impact of slam by inhaling air beforehand.

Yooka-Laylee and the Kracklestone

The graphic novel revolves around the duo's journey to acquire the Kracklestone, rumored to make it's wielder completely invincible, before their arch-enemy Capital B.

Yooka

While normally shown fit, a recurring gag with Yooka is for his gut to hang out while he's feeling dejected or isn't thinking clearly. Dr. Puss later feeds Yooka some elemental berries she super charged with exploding bug DNA. It gives Yooka the ability to spit out powerful blasts at the cost of ballooning him up with energy.

Laylee

Early in the story, the pair are relaxing and eating snacks while contemplating an offer from Trowzer. Due to her smaller size, Laylee gains a little weight during this scene and later shown completely stuffed the next day. Later on, they run into a large corplet who tries to identify them via a crudely drawn doodle. Laylee's doodle appears bloated and the pair both look like their doodles on the next page. The last bit of expansion happens after the pair have an argument and Yooka falls down a hole. Laylee fly up to Yooka with a snide remark, but he grabs her with his tongue causing her to puff out.
