The Christmas Crocodile is an American short story book written by Bonny Becker, and published by Scholastic Inc. in 1998. On Christmas Eve, Alice Jayne finds a pet crocodile under her family's Christmas tree and it quickly threatens her family's Christmas by eating various objects. It is later revealed that the Crocodile was accidentally sent to the family by an "Uncle Carbuncle" that the family doesn't know and they send the Croc away.
On the night before Christmas, the Crocodile escapes from the sleeping family's watch in the cellar to go on another eating spree. He is next seen bloated from eating several personal items, the Christmas tree, and all of the presents. The crocodile is shown to have seemingly digested all of the items after a brief cut away from him.
