Forum - Yume Penguin Monogatari (NES) & Diet Go Go (Arcade)

Yume Penguin Monogatari is an old platformer made by Konami for the NES. The general premise was a penguin named Penta, short for Pentaro, is after the heart of a female penguin named Penko. However, Penko does not want to date Penta because he is too fat. So, Penta becomes determined to lose enough weight to win Penko's love. All while Ginji, Penko's current boyfriend, sends his goons to fatten Penta by chucking food at him. Penta has three weight levels he can be in at any given time with each level having its own stats/attack.

Diet Go Go was an old arcade game in the same vein as Nightmare in the Dark or Jumping Pop. The player would play as either a male or female teenager in gym gear and shoot enemies to fatten them. Once an enemy begins to float off the ground, the player can then use it as a missile to take out other enemies. The enemies will also try to shoot the player with food and increase their weight level. The player loses a life when they become too big and float off, I think.

Both games have had their sprites archived on Spriter's Resource and have been long-played by the World of Longplays Community. Sidenote - There are some instances that Spriter's Resource does not cover. In Yume Penguin, there is an instance during the beginning/ending cutscenes and some enemies expand when attacked. Similarly, Diet Go Go has victory images after every boss stage that show the pair gaining weight.
