Just want to put this out there to make sure I'm following the consensus of the community...

So I am currently in the process of preparing to make a page for the wiki detailing the known instances of expansion in the Brazilian comic book series "Turma da Mônica". However, I can only find these instances from various YouTube videos that show each page of the comic panel-by-panel, so I'm doing my best to digitally recreate each page with screenshots of each panel.

What I would like to know is if it would be acceptable if I went the extra mile and translated all the Portuguese text into English as best as I can, or if that would be far too much tampering with the source material for it to be posted here.

Any and all thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, a lot of the manga scans here are by translator groups which aren't affiliated with official companies. On the other hand, they translate as many as chapters as they can. I don't know what would happen if you only did certain ones.

A valid point; only having what's posted on the wiki-page translated to English could certainly cause some confusion by making people believe the series is fully translated somewhere when it actually isn't.

I just thought it would help provide better subtext to the instances portrayed in the comics since most of the users here can only read English, and I'm happy to put in the extra effort. But of course I could also simply just upload the comics as they are if you'd rather I didn't.

Or if there is anything else I could do to better compromise the situation, I'm open to suggestions.

If there are no more objections then, I will go ahead and upload the pages I have translated so far. I'll still keep the untranslated versions of everything I upload on hand incase my submissions are declared unacceptable.
