Sapiens: A Graphic History is a graphic novel adaptation of Yuval Noah Harari's Sapiens, a book about early human development and how it's influenced us today. This is from a section discussing how the scarcity of fat and sugar in prehistoric times gave humans an instinct to eat more than they need while it's available. The example given is of a prehistoric woman who finds a tree full of figs and at first takes what she can carry, planning to come back for more the next day. But when she spots monkeys in the area she rushes back to gobble up everything at once.
