I forget where I saw it, but I remember a scene where the father and son are forced to eat and enormous amount of food and end up literally round by the end of it.

I found it, but it's actually the first segment 13th episode of the original 1971 "Tensai Bakabon" anime: https://zoro.to/watch/tensai-bakabon-6221?ep=62169 (Starts at 9:00)

The episode was also re-adapted in the second segment of Episode 8 of "Rerere Tensai Bakabon", where they wind up even bigger: https://youtu.be/iOOb0zM9Vug?t=931 (Starts at 15:30)

I just skimmed all 92 episodes of both series plus "Heisei Tensai Bakabon" and found several more instances of varying degrees. I'll get around to cataloguing them at some point.
