After reaching the supposed Rim of Heaven, Firedrake and Ben are grabbed by the monstrous antagonist Nettlebrand who prepares to eat them. Ben encourages Firedrake to breathe fire to defeat Nettlebrand, an ability the dragon believed he could only do with Ben's help. After enough encouragement Firedrake's eyes glow and his cheeks and belly fill with flame, held shut by Nettlebrand's claws. After enough pressure builds, Nettlebrand's claws are forced open and Firedrake expels all the built up fire.
