I agree, a lot of those examples are pretty rough and that'd create a lot more work for admins to clean them up. However, they do find a lot of content for the wiki and we don't want to discourage that by blocking them. Other people can always come in behind them and make minor edits to fix tags or titles, and we see that a lot already!
I think a good compromise would be a Template:Issues:reason template you can stick at the top of pages. It'd signal that one or more things is wrong with a page and it needs some fixing up. And I could put a link on the front page that lists all the pages with that template. That way, if more time-consuming work needs to be done like hunting down dates/chapters other people could help as well. If you're fine with that, I can go ahead and make the template and set all of that up for you.
