Clifford the Big Red Dog is an animated TV series based on Norman Birdwell's book series of the same name. The show ran from September 2000 to February 2003, following the death of Clifford's voice actor, John Ritter. It was followed by a prequel series, Clifford's Puppy Days.
When Clifford was first born, he was the smallest puppy among his siblings, thus making him the runt of the litter. He was chosen by Emily Elizabeth Howard as her birthday gift. Due to Emily's immense love and care, Clifford grew to a colossal size, forcing Emily Elizabeth and her family to leave their small apartment in the city and move to Birdwell Island. The show focuses on life lessons learned by either Clifford and his fellow dogs or Emily Elizabeth and her human friends.
