Forum - Brand New Server

Welcome to our new server for The Big Cartoon Wiki! After two years with A2 Hosting, I have moved our entire site over to Amazon AWS. This is an enterprise-grade web host and should give us infinite room to expand with our community.

What's Preserved?

All of the existing users, pages, images, comments and forum posts have been ported over from the old wiki. Unlike our initial jump from Wikia to a self-hosted site, nothing was lost in the transfer! But if you see anything behaving strangely please drop a comment below and I will take a look.

What's New?

Our new server has twice as much memory and storage as the old one! On our old server, we had to reconfigure thumbnails to save storage space. This isn't necessary anymore so images should load faster and more consistently now. I've also enabled page caching which will use a little more storage space but speed up pages for logged-out users!

What's Missing?

All that's missing are the short URLs from the old wiki. You can no longer visit pages like bigcartoon.org/Page_Name and must type them out like bigcartoon.org/wiki/Page_Name. This was a necessary tradeoff because the short URLs broke the Visual Editor and caused other strange behavior.

What's Next?

Now that we're moved to a new host, the last thing I need to do is configure email on our new site. Note that for a short period, email registration and password resets will not work. Aside from that, it's business as usual! We hope you enjoy our new permanent home and the smoother experience it'll provide for years to come!
