Inspector Gadget is an American-animated TV series originally created by Bruno Bianchi, Andy Heyward, and Jean Chalopin, and produced by DIC Entertainment. The series pilot premiered in December 1982, and ran until February 1986 with a total of 86 episodes, followed by a Christmas television special in December 1992 titled Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas.

The premise focuses on the bumbling adventures of Inspector Gadget, an international police inspector with various cybernetic gadgets embedded in his body that he uses to foil the evil intents of Dr. Claw and his terrorist organization, MAD. While Gadget himself is often oblivious to the dangerous situations around him, his intellectual niece, Penny, and anthropomorphic dog, Brain, typically tag along on his investigations and secretly help him from a distance.

The success of the show lead to a continued franchise spanning two live-action films as well as several animated spin-off shows, such as: Inspector Gadget’s Field Trip, Gadget Boy, Gadget and the Gadgetinis, and a 2015 reboot of the original series.
