Weathering with You is a Japanese animated film directed by Makoto Shinkai. The film was produced by CoMix Wave Films, distributed by Toho Co., and theatrically released in Japan in July 2019. The premise follows Hodaka Morishima, a teenage boy struggling to make a living for himself in modern day Tokyo during one of the city's most record-breaking raining streaks. He eventually befriends a girl his age named Hina Amano, who has the mysterious ability to clear up the rain whenever she chooses through concentrated prayer. Using this power, they start a lucrative business together to temporarily stop the rain for various outdoor occasions and activities.
During the movie, Hodaka takes in a stray cat he names "Ame" ("Rain" in the English dub). When Hodaka returns to Tokyo after his three-year absence, Ame is seen to have put on a noticeable amount of weight while under Keisuke's care.
