Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm video game created by a group of Newgrounds users: ninjamuffin99, PhantomArcade, evilsk8r, and KawaiSprite. They first made it as part of the Ludum Dare 47 game jam and continued its development with support from fans. The plot is that the player character, Boyfriend, is dating his love interest Girlfriend. Girlfriend's demon father disapproves of their relationship, so he challenges Boyfriend to a rap battle for the right to date her. There are several more opponents to face, as well.
One doodle by PhantomArcade is of Girlfriend being fat, which was later implemented in the game in 2025. If the player completes a song as Pico in Freeplay and gets a "Good" ranking, the results screen will rarely show him shooting a cutout of fat Girlfriend.
