Anya's Ghost is a graphic novel by Vera Brosgol, published in 2011. It is well-received for its storytelling and also won some awards. Anya is a Russian immigrant living in the United States and struggling with high school life. After skipping school one day, she falls into a dry well and meets Emily, a ghost girl who died 90 years ago. The two soon become friends, helping each other out, but Emily starts to become more controlling, leading to Anya learning the truth about her.
Anya thinks she's fat, so when she looks in a school mirror, she sees herself with a body like her mother's.
