It takes place in a fantasy world where one's value is determined by wielding equipment, which is set by how many "equipment slots" that person has. Noroa Laeta wishes to be an adventurer, but unfortunately was born with zero slots. However, he actually has an unknown piece of equipment that gives him use of 9999 slots, but only for cursed items. He eventually meets and equips the living Jinx Straw Doll, who can take cursed equipment from others, beginning their journey to collect all the cursed equipment they can.
