Samurai Jack is an animated series created by Genndy Tartakovsky, and aired on Cartoon Network for four seasons from 2001 to 2004. The series went on hiatus until it received a final fifth season in 2017, concluding the series.

Many years ago in ancient Japan, the evil wizard Aku escapes from his imprisonment and takes over the land. The emperor's son is sent away to be trained all over the world, to someday face Aku. After returning to his homeland and receiving the magic sword that can defeat Aku, the lone warrior faces Aku in a final showdown. However, before the warrior can finish him off, Aku opens a time portal and sends him into the future, where Aku is the ruler of the planet. The warrior, now known as Jack, must find a way to return to his own time and defeat Aku once and for all.

TV series

Jack and the Gangsters (Episode XII)

Jack joins a gang after hearing that they can get him close to Aku. First however, Jack must retrieve the Neptune Jewel, said to give its owner control of the world's water. The Neptune Jewel is guarded by three elemental beings: Earth, Wind, and Fire. Jack is outmatched at first, but defeats them by getting Fire to blast Wind, which causes her to spiral out of control and take out Fire and Earth with her.

Aku's Fairy Tales (Episode XIII)

After learning that Earth's youth no longer fears and respects him, Aku holds an assembly of all of Earth's children, to convince them that Aku is a hero worthy of respect. The first tale Aku tells is about a beast who consumes whole planets. Before the beast can consume Earth, a mysterious warrior appears and defeats the beast by throwing his spear at it, which transforms the beast into beef jerky. The beef jerky is used to forever feed the citizens of Earth. The tale ends when Aku reveals that the warrior is himself, who is worshiped and made king.

Seeing that the children are not convinced, he retells the story of "Little Red Riding Hood", portraying himself as the titular character. Like in the original story, the wolf eats the grandmother. Unlike the original story, Little Red Hood has "laser eye beams, great combat skills, and a powerful uppercut," which she uses to free her grandmother.

When the children want to hear a story about Jack, Aku recounts the tale of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears", with Jack replacing Goldilocks. After the three bears leave their home, Jack breaks in and eats their porridge. He then proceeds to destroy their entire house, before finally sleeping in their bed.

Eventually, Aku loses his patience and begins telling random fairy tales with Jack getting killed. One of the fairy tales is the story of the frog prince. Unlike in the original, Jack kisses the frog, only to get eaten whole.

Comics

Mini Mart Minions (Cartoon Network Action Pack #3, 2006)

When Jack defeats all the minions, Aku swallows him whole, but Jack cuts his way out.
