Ripley's Believe It or Not! is an American single-panel newspaper strip created by LeRoy Robert Ripley. It is also the starter of the entire franchise, which consists of television shows, books, and museums. When it debuted in December 1918, it was titled Champs and Chumps and was about sports. Almost a year later, Ripley began adding bizarre facts, changing the comic's subject to what it is now. It chronicles events so unusual that readers might question if they are true.
