So, there’s this anime called “Princess Comet” or “Cosmic Baton Girl Commetto,” which is some kind of magical girl anime, and the main protagonist has a dog-like animal sidekick named “Rubba Ball” that can inflate themself like a balloon.

I don’t know if it really counts, because the shape that Rubba Ball takes on when they inflate is “head-centric,” and their body just kind of disappears.

Adding to this, Rubba Ball actually inflates numerous times throughout the series. There are two other small animal creatures like him, a bird and a rabbit (whose names I don’t remember). They are both female and can inflate themselves just like he can.
