Bleach is a manga series created by Noriaki "Tite" Kubo, running in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2001 to 2016. It also has two anime adaptations: one that aired from 2004 to 2012, and another in 2022 that adapts the final story arc, "Thousand-Year Blood War." The story follows teenager Ichigo Kurosaki, who has the ability to see and talk to spirits. One day, he meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper whose duties involve sending souls to the afterlife, as well as destroying evil spirits known as Hollows. When she is injured from fighting a Hollow attacking Ichigo's family, she transfers her power to Ichigo so he can fight in her stead. This leads to Ichigo taking on Soul Reaper duties until Rukia recovers. Eventually, Rukia is arrested by her superiors and set to be executed for giving her power to a human. Ichigo goes to rescue her, leading to many journeys and battles for the Soul Society.
