Has anyone having longer load times here in this site?

Might have to go with the ads

Few people hate senseless ads more than I do, but I suppose it would be a reasonable price to pay on my end if it meant helping the site run far more reliably. And besides that, I'm sure we're all using ad-blockers after all the recent nonsense on YouTube anyway.

Just so long as it isn't nearly as obnoxiously intrusive and screen-filling as the ads on Fandom's. Strictly mobile users will still want access to the site well enough without tons of video ads overloading those less powerful browsers.

Really? You notice it as well on YouTube!?

If I did introduce ads to this site, I would do my best to integrate them as unobtrusively as possible. Skyscraper ad in empty space on left side of page, full banner at top of page, full banner at bottom of page. And I would publicize all of the expenses, earnings, etc. in a public spreadsheet.

A big reason I hate wiki farms like Fandom is because they inline ad content into the page or stick hovering ads that follow as you scroll. So I would never do that, even if it turns out necessary for the wiki to break even each month. If people are okay with the prospect of me running ads on the site, I can put some further investigation into that.

Seems like we're on the same page then; that sounds good enough to me.

If it's for the longevity and proper running and upkeep of the site, I am fully for that.

No opppsition to ads if it helps stop these gateway timeouts. In am ideal world I'd support the financing of the site directly since so much labour I've done is tied up in it but alas, same old story, same old story, poor poor poor poor
