The Close Shaves of Pauline Peril is an American comic book series written by Del Connell and illustrated by Jack Manning. It had a very short run, lasting only four issues. It also seems to lampoon The Perils of Pauline, a film serial from 1914. The title character is a ditzy reporter for The Daily Noose, which is owned by her father. The editor, Snodgrass McViper, sends her on dangerous assignments in hopes that she will perish, leaving him to inherit the company. Pauline often doesn't realize the danger, going unharmed either by luck or by being rescued by her boyfriend Chester Chesty (who is alerted by her dog Weakheart).
