Rick and Morty is an American animated series created for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block. It was originally based on The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti, a short film by Roiland that parodied Back to the Future. The show revolves around the bizarre adventures of mad scientist Rick Sanchez and his teenage grandson Morty Smith. They and the other family members regularly get dragged into escapades spanning parallel universes, often with dangerous consequences.
