Kaiketsu Zorori is a Japanese children's book series written by Yutaka Hara, first released in November 1987. It also spawned into animation, namely a television series. The first installment, titled Kaiketsu Zorori, was produced by Ajia-do Animation Works, running from January 2004 to February 2005 with 52 episodes that mostly served as adaptations of the original books. A second series was produced soon after under the title Majime ni Fumajime Kaiketsu Zorori, which ran from February 2005 to January 2007 with a total of 97 episodes that featured a more overarching storyline separate from the books.
The series follows the adventures of an eccentric fox named Zorori and a pair of twin boars who serve as his apprentices: Ishishi and Noshishi. Zorori strives to become the King of Pranks, but despite being a wanted felon, often helps those in need, usually when it plays to his advantage. His extensive journeys typically involve him winding up in fantastic and bizarre situations.
