Sergeant Barney Barker was a 1956 humor series published by Atlas, created to capitalize on the then-current popularity of The Phil Silvers Show and its beloved lead character, Sgt. Bilko (as the official rights were licensed to DC Comics instead). In it, Barker, the similarly roguish and greedy Sgt. of Camp Blemish, enlists his men in zany schemes to get himself money and girls, all while trying to keep his superior officers from finding out. The title ran for only three issues.
Untitled (#1, August 1956)
After months of powdered rations, Barker holds a fraudulent livestock judging so he can secretly steal fresh milk for his troops and earn a little money on the side, but the thirsty men guzzle it all down.
