Lupin III is a long-running Japanese franchise created by Kazuhiko Katō (under the pen name Monkey Punch). It started out as a manga series in 1967, becoming so successful that it gained incarnations in almost every other form of media. The series follows the adventures of master thief Lupin III, grandson of Arsène Lupin (from the stories written by French writer Maurice Leblanc). He travels the world to pull off heists alongside his best friend Daisuke Jigen and ally Goemon Ishikawa XIII. Fellow thief Fujiko Mine will sometimes help them and sometimes exploit them for her own gain. All four are pursued by Inspector Koichi Zenigata, whose life goal is to apprehend them.
