Pogo is a long-running American comic series created by Walt Kelly. Its first two major characters, Pogo Possum and Albert Alligator, made their debut in 1942 in the first issue of Animal Comics. In 1948, the series was made into a newspaper comic strip, running until 1975. It was also revived from 1989 to 1993. Set in the Okefenokee Swamp, it follows the lives of Pogo, Albert, and a large cast of other animals who live or visit there. It also delves into satire and politics, commenting on current events.
