Lost in Egypt, Wimpy prepares hamburgers for himself, Popeye, and Olive. Despite promising not to eat them all himself while Popeye rescues Olive, he does so anyway by the end.
In this cartoon, Popeye, Olive Oyl and Wimpy get lost on their way to "Coney Island" and end up stranded in the African desert.  Olive wants to go for a swim on the "beach" while Wimpy wants to break out the trio's picnic lunch of hamburgers. As Popeye leaves to find Olive, who's wandered off, he makes Wimpy promise not to eat the hamburgers until Popeye and Olive return.  As Popeye tries to save "High Priestess" Olive Oyl from the natives who want her as a human sacrifice, he rushes back and forth to check on Wimpy, who's getting more and more anxious to eat hamburgers.  After rescuing Olive, Popeye realizes that he's left Wimpy alone with the hamburgers for too long ("I just hope we're not too late!).  Popeye and Olive return to find a grinning Wimpy, with an enormously fattened belly, having eaten every hamburger.  With his shirt stretched to the bursting point, Wimpy sings "It's bad to be tar-dy to a ham-bur-ger par-ty, says Wimpy the Bur-ger Man!" Instead of Popeye's trademark "toot toot" two of Wimpy's shirt buttons pop off in the closing shot.
