Hi all, I'd like to formally announce I'm stepping down as The Big Cartoon Wiki sysadmin. It was an honor to host and develop this site, but the rise of AI webscrapers has made it increasingly difficult for independent sites like this to keep running. Alongside that, I am also making the transition to full-time self employment and I need to alleviate the stress of my non-critical monthly finances whereever possible.
To explain the situation, the website has been hit 24/7 with a DDoS-scale webscraping effort that has made the site unusable for a long time now. These bots account for a majority of internet traffic nowadays and cause an incredible load on sites so they can hoard up images to feed into their slop-generation machines. I've tried implementing multiple bot protection policies like AWS WAF Security or Anubis but that is beyond my abilities. I've tried reaching out to other web admins but it is difficult due to the site's subject matter. I've failed to find a solution and at this point it is leaning far into neglect territory.
I've always paid out of pocket to keep this site running, but the contents of this site have always belonged to the community. The pages, images and scenes y'all have contributed belong to everyone who has put thousands of man-hours of volunteer work into this site. So today, I'll be putting everything up on The Internet Archive so your work can be preserved and the torch can be carried on by someone else.

I would like to give a special shout-out to Door73, the main site admin and content moderator of the wiki. Despite my neglect as a sysadmin you were always immensely patient and diligently kept up the volunteer work of keeping the community running.
