Elvira, Mistress of the Dark was a licensed comic series published by Claypool Comics that ran from 1993 to 2007. In it, perky horror hostess witch Elvira (a role originated and trademarked by comedienne Cassandra Peterson) contends with her arch-rival Spooky Suzie, butts heads with her meddling station manager Rosalind Wyck, and engages in various adventures with an emphasis on supernatural humor.

"Trial and Terror!" (Issue 116, December 2002)

Each tasked by the Court of the Gods with proving themselves worthy of the exclusive broadcast rights to a terrible big-budget movie, Elvira and Spooky Suzie compete in various trials of skill. One of these is a pie-eating contest, which has Elvira briefly looking stuffed; Suzie, however, cheats and is able to win.

Amazingly, another such scene occurs in the very next story, as the two remaining contestants, Frankie Stein and quizmaster Elvira -- who, seeing as the show is a parody of Win Ben Stein's Money, is also eligible for the prize -- engage in a final-elimination "pie-breaker" round.
