Cathy is a syndicated comic strip created by Cathy Guisewite that ran from 1976 up until 2010. It deals with the titular character's everyday struggles as a feminine stereotype towards food, love family and work, the "four basic guilt groups" according to her.
Initially skinny but under the fear of gaining weight, Cathy herself grew thicker as the comic's art style progressed to the point where many of her strips would deal with her weight problems. Occasionally, she would gain even more weight based on her addiction to high-calorie foods.
