BoJack Horseman is an animated sitcom created by Raphael Bob-Waksburg, that debuted on Netflix on August 22, 2014 to mixed reception from critics, but throughout subsequent seasons has received universal critical acclaim for its satirical outlook on the American entertainment industry in the 2010's and its authentic portrayal of toxic masculinity, trauma and addiction.

The show takes place in a universe where animals are anthropomorphized, are accepted into society and are allowed natural human relationships with any species, and revolves around BoJack Horseman, a washed-up, middle-aged actor best known for the 1990's sitcom Horsin' Around, struggling to retain his relevance as a celebrity while wrestling with his egotism, alcoholism and self-destructive behavior. The series also focuses on the relationships and endeavours of Horseman's roommate Todd Chavez, ghostwriter Diane Nyugen, agent Princess Carolyn and longtime rival Mr. Peanutbutter.

The Face of Depression (S06E07)

Diane is battling depression, and before Guy leaves for the Galapagos for a project ordered by National Geographic, she tells him that this phase has since her college years. She blames it on being forced to take Prozacs and her gradual disdain towards Dawson's Creek. She worries that her depression could worsen while he is away and she could repeat this phase, asking him, "What if you leave and come back to this person you don't even recognize?" Guy does not think her current state makes her any less recognizable. Diane feels reassured by her boyfriend's acceptance, even more so after BoJack thanks her for helping him overcome depression.

Weeks later, when Guy has returned to Chicago, Diane has gained the weight back to reflect her college self for his affection, and within doing so has finally achieved happiness.

This is also how Diane appears in the intro from S06E08 onwards.
